Poland's grid reform lets a battery share one connection point with solar or wind without counting as a second source, reopening capacity that developers were refused before.
Why It Matters
Since the 30 April 2026 amendment, cable pooling now covers energy storage, not just renewables: a battery paired with a PV or wind project no longer counts as a separate source eating into the connection's reserved capacity. Sites and applications previously rejected or capped for lack of headroom specifically because storage was added to the mix are no longer blocked on that basis.
What To Do About It
If you or a client had a grid connection application refused, downsized, or told "no capacity" after adding storage to a PV or wind project, that answer may be outdated. Ask the grid operator (OSD) to reassess the application under the new cable pooling rules before assuming the site is dead.
