Poland's April 2026 energy law rewrite cut grid connection permit validity from 2 years to 1, and roughly doubled the non-refundable deposit developers pay to hold a connection slot.
Why It Matters
The new rules replace one completion deadline with a staged milestone schedule tied to your permits, and raise the security deposit from 30 to 60 zloty per kW, plus a new 1 zloty per kW application fee, for connections above 1 kV. The goal is to clear out reserved capacity from projects that never broke ground, which means a slower project now loses its grid slot in half the time it used to.
What To Do About It
Check the issue date on every connection condition your business holds: anything issued after 30 April 2026 runs on a 1-year clock, not 2. Confirm the new deposit and fee with your grid operator (OSD) before submitting a new application, and ask what milestone schedule applies to your specific permit stage.
